ILLUSTRATION & LETTERING

I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of home. Here each unit and each person becomes part of a whole, and when that happens we gain a sense of belonging. In a population-dense city like New York, you’re surrounded by verticality—I think it’s kind of a miracle that there are people on every floor of every building.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT  This is a text by the writer Erika Anderson while we were having a conversation about my idea of home and my experience of living in NYC. This is the full text: I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of home. Here each unit and each person becomes part of a whole, and when that happens we gain a sense of belonging. In a population-dense city like New York, you’re surrounded by verticality—I think it’s kind of a miracle that there are people on every floor of every building. In this poster, it’s as if each letter is a different neighborhood, with its own diversity and beauty. We occupy these spaces and these neighborhoods and we become New York. My story is just one story but there are tons of stories. For me, New York City is home.
