2016 was the Year of the Monkey according to the Chinese zodiac. This became the main inspiration for designing this pocket calendar. The challenge for this new edition began with creating a simple Python script that generated random combinations of words based on five lists: (1) Types of monkeys, (2) Activities, (3) Objects, (4) Qualities of monkeys, and (5) The months of the year. We ran the script 12 times to produce 12 unique word combinations, avoiding any duplicates. Then, we invited 12 different people to write a short story using the words from each list. Based on those stories, we created the illustrations. The final result was a limited edition of 50 pocket calendars and 25 silkscreen print posters, printed with gold and silver ink.
